How did "College! Know Before You Go" Come About?

Hi, I'm Aysia J. currently a senior at Arbor View High School & a Girl Scout Ambassador. College! Know Before You Go... was founded in 2020 in the middle of a world-wide pandemic and as part of my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. As I began my journey to prepare for college, I realized that there was so much I didn't know. There were many tasks that would've made my road easier had I completed them during my junior year of High School. I overcame the challenges and was able to submit applications, apply for financial aid and scholarships, and a host of other things timely. But, in the process of researching colleges I stumbled upon some heartbreaking facts. I not only need to be prepared for college, but must also be prepared to be safe while at college. According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, women in college aged 18-24 are 3 times more likely to be sexually assaulted or experience sexual violence. My focus soon went beyond educating others on preparing for college to also staying safe in the next chapter of their education.
